THERAPIE

Autonomy and connection group

When: Every Wednesday, from 11:30 until 13:30, from  the 25th of Februari until the 3rd of June 2026 (15 sessions).

For whom: This therapy group is meant for people who would like to learn to act more from their own values, norms and inner compass, or that experience a lack of authentic connection with peers or with themselves. If you’ve experienced rejection, exclusion or other difficulties in social interactions, and you’ve adopted coping and attachment styles that hinder you in self-direction, autonomy, making connections and experiencing pleasure in social interactions, you are welcome to learn and explore with us. Since we’ll be learning together in a group, there’ll be many chances to practice with group members around topics such as connecting authentically, asserting boundaries and being yourself around others.

Group Objective:

  • Strengthening Autonomy

  • Recognizing (unconscious) patterns in attachment and relationship formation.

  • Explore the thoughts, emotions and behaviors deriving from these patterns.

  • Expanding behavioral possibilities in interactions that contribute to increasing self direction, autonomy and connecting safely in social relationships.

  • Increasing assertiveness (expression of boundaries and desires).

  • Shaping the relationship with yourself and with others consciously and authentically

Method:

In this group, we use a dramatherapeutic approach, which means we work experience based and we express our inner world in the space and explore it. Examples could be acting out internal dialogues or using role play to practice giving feedback and expressing boundaries or desires. It's not just verbal therapy, although we will certainly reflect verbally on exercises together; dialogue is not central. Drama therapy can also involve working in smaller groups on assignments, to connect and explore topics such as the meaning of autonomy with more depth. Exercises are never mandatory; everything takes place in coordination with each other, allowing you to practice sensing and setting boundaries. Furthermore, the body has a central role within dramatherapy; through dance and movement exercises, or physical play, we provide practice in connecting with bodily signals, emotions, needs, and communication styles. Client involvement There will be a number of homework assignments that are done between group sessions. You are welcomed to share situations and dynamics that have both positive and negative effects on you and to support others in their process.

Rules:

To create a safe and good working environment there are a number of rules:

  • We start on time, please be there by 11:25.

  • If you cannot attend, please cancel your attendance in time, latest 24 hours before the session, otherwise we’ll have to send an invoice

  • All information you share in the group is confidential, do not share information of persons in the group with others.

  • We will offer some boundaries around the interactions of group members amongst each other outside of the sessions for the duration of this process. These will be discussed in the beginning of the group process.

  • Before starting in the group there’ll be a short intake moment with one of the group therapists, to see if the method and content of the group are fitting for your needs. In this conversation we’ll also set individual goals for the group therapy.

  • The group therapy should happen next to an individual treatment, so the personal topics that are coming up during the group sessions can be deepened and integrated within individual sessions.

  • The group trajectory includes 15 sessions, for the continuity of the group process you should be able to attend at least 13 of the 15 sessions (In case you’d like to continue longer, there’ll be a new cycle starting in January 2026).
